So, I came off a 3-day weekend (Memorial Day) then worked half a day on Tuesday after which I had to run down to my hometown (about 60 miles SE of Fargo) to pick up my father. After grabbing him, I headed back home to pick up Mrs. H. We drove up (about another 275 miles) to my Mom’s hometown (lost her about 12 years ago) for her sister’s (my Aunt) funeral on Wednesday morning. After the funeral, we loaded up & drove back to Fargo where we needed to meet a friend of the family who was flying in from San Diego, CA, so there was a time-crunch making sure we were back in time to meet him. By the time I got home last night, my brains were cooked. Passed out for a good night’s sleep for sure, but had to be up at 5:15 to start my day… “And, here we go! What? It’s Thursday already?!? And almost month’s end?!? Ugh!!”

I was working as the store manager for the local Hardee’s franchisee when the IF store opened. I showed up at the end of construction to make sure everything got completed, hired and trained the staff, set up all the accounts, etc. I stayed there about 12 months.
It was a really pretty store. Of course that was in 1980!
@chienfou Not sure which location(s) you worked at, but we are down to only one Hardee’s franchise in the Fargo-Moorhead area now. I think there used to be about 8.
@chienfou The only one left is the one at the intersection of Main Avenue & I-29. Guessing the one you were at was the one on 1st Avenue North in Moorhead. That one’s been closed for quite a while…
So yes it is Thursday, but more importantly it is Thursday May 28, 2026. And I am 4 hours away from my last exit interview as I start my retirement. So Happy Day !!

The other nurses in the ER threw a low-key get together during one of my last shifts. Since I was technically retiring (but not quitting) it made sense.
I am on a rare two week vacation and I don’t know what day it is. I imagine this is what retirement will feel like if I ever get there.
@cbatte
Yep. I can attest to having to look at my phone or tablet to know what day it is sometimes. Retirement suits me!
@chienfou it will suit me as well. I have about 6 more years unless an unknown rich relative leaves me enough to get to retirement quicker.
@cbatte @chienfou Same - I only know today is Thursday because I had to take the trash can and recycling out to the curb for pickup.
@macromeh
Trash day is Monday for me. Unfortunately the only recycling I can do is aluminum cans for the Knights of Columbus at the Catholic Church.
@chienfou @macromeh Oh yeah. I guess I will need to keep up with the day of the week for trash pick up after I retire
S.H.I.T.!
So happy it’s Thursday. Way back at college, the student union would play a S.H.I.T. movie every Thursday.
Also, retirement is the best.
New microwave being delivered & installed.
@tricityladytn You get a new microwave every Thursday?
Every Monday and Tuesday, I think it’s so long until the weekend, then on Thursday, I’m all “It’s almost the weekend already?!?”

@tohar1
Lived in Moorhead and the upper half of MN in the late 70’s.
Was IF your destination by any chance?
@chienfou No, it was Bottineau, ND this time, though I do still have relatives up in “Frostbite Falls”.

It was in Moorhead. Don’t remember exactly where tho. (48+ yrs ago!!)

@tohar1
that sounds right actually.
What? Again with a Thursday? Lately, it seems like there’s one every week!
Thinking a 4-day week would go by quicker, when all it did was drag on and confuse me on what day it actually is.
This must be Thursday. I never could get the hang of Thursdays.

@rancho Nice! Congratulations!!

@rancho Congratulations!
@cf1 @rancho
Did you get a gold watch? Or at least a party??
@cf1 @chienfou @rancho Man, I didn’t get a party when I retired (which had been the tradition). But then, it was during the whole Covid mess, so…
